Significans Automation to play a leading role at new AI Pavilion at PRINTING United
Mark J. Subers, Chief Innovation Officer at PRINTING United Alliance, organizer of the annual PRINTING United Expo, has revealed an exciting new, long-awaited addition to its 2025 event. The new PRINTING AI Pavilion (Booth: 4255) will be a “central hub” exploring how Artificial Intelligence (AI) is radically transforming the printing and packaging print industries. This leading-edge new area will showcase AI applications, highlight the latest solutions from pioneering exhibitors, and deliver expert panel discussions from the tradeshow floor.
“We’re delighted to be chosen as one of those ‘pioneering exhibitors’ and to take part in some ‘expert panel discussions’ with other industry experts about the enormous untapped benefits of AI technology in print”
said Significans President Marc Raad. Expo attendees can engage with sponsors like Significans at dedicated kiosks, interact with curated educational content, and explore the new AI Wall – a visual guide to all AI-focused technologies being displayed at the tradeshow October 22-24 in Orlando, Florida. Visitors can easily navigate the AI innovations shaping print’s future. The Pavilion also features consulting services, research, iLEARNING+ modules, and more.
Starting at the PRINTING United AI Pavilion, showgoers can visit a curated lineup of exhibitors, including Significans Automation, who are transforming workflows, automation, data insights, and business management with their breakthrough AI solutions. This is your chance to see cutting-edge AI tools in action, meet the Significans experts behind them, and discover how Artificial Intelligence can drive unprecedented efficiencies and profitability across your business.
Building AI into customized workflow automation
“At Significans, we are driven by the conviction that customized automation in an AI era is the ONLY path forward to future-proof a printing business – especially in a complex, rapidly evolving industry,” Raad insisted. “We see AI as a transformative force accelerating innovation, improving decision-making, and delivering efficiencies once thought impossible. Yet the true potential of AI depends entirely on the client’s commitment to it as well as a thorough understanding of what it can and can’t offer. Integrating AI into a client’s unique production environment is a complex, labor-intensive process. It requires careful planning, deep understanding of the client’s workflows, and vast vendor-neutral knowledge of all software options on the market today.”
Speaking of “delivering efficiencies once thought impossible,” Raad pointed to a recent client, online signage printer Work House Signs of Pottstown, PA. This company reduced 4 months (3,024 hours) of job processing to just 6 hours by deploying highly customized workflow automation in combination with the AI app Fuzzy Matcher. With the new technology, Raad’s client feels he can boost sales tenfold. “Transformational results like this are an example of having the expertise to carefully combine highly customized workflow automation with the latest AI solutions,” he added. Fuzzy Matcher will be one of many AI solutions featured by Significans at booth 4255, and during its panel discussions Wednesday, October 22.
Significans leverages AI to streamline workflow processes
Significans’ approach involves integrating various AI strategies into workflow automation schemas to enhance efficiency, reduce errors, and improve overall productivity. This is usually based on the type of AI their clients currently use – Narrow, General or Superintelligent.
- Narrow AI can perform defined tasks. Significans utilizes Aggregate AI to automate narrowly defined sets of tasks within a workflow. For example, AI can handle repetitive tasks such as prepress checks, layout optimization and smart ganging.
- General AI is still quite early in implementation form but can simulate thought processes within the workflow by reverse-engineering production processes. This involves using a series of conditional statements to automate decision-making tasks. For instance, during the preflight stage, AI automatically cleans up and fixes files well before they proceed to production, ensuring they meet quality standards without manual intervention.
- Superintelligent AI can exceed human capabilities. Significans’ custom solutions will eventually leverage Superintelligent AI to perform tasks at speeds beyond human capabilities, particularly in workflow computing. This allows for faster processing of massive volumes of data, enabling faster turnaround times and improved print production efficiency.
Significans has been deploying two specific AI technologies into its workflows for some time now – Aggregate (patterning) and Generative AI (i.e.: ChatGPT for validation). Patterning (or Aggregate AI with Advanced Logic) leverages advanced logic and pattern-recognition capabilities. This approach allows Significans to, for instance, analyze large datasets, convert legacy data, identify meaningful patterns, and make informed decisions based on data insights. ChatGPT as an internal validation tool to enhance the accuracy and reliability of its solutions, supporting its development processes. In select cases, Significans incorporates this type of methodology into an opportunity for its customers to use it in the same fashion.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is one of the most important technologies that humanity has created in the last decade– and experts insist that nothing similar will likely come along again in our lifetime! For now, AI will give printers a huge competitive advantage. But it’s only a matter of time until this amazing technology becomes an industry-wide standard.
“In the coming years, we’ll see print automation advancements that can change the world, and AI will be one of them,” Raad added. “These advancements will be highlighted at the AI Pavilion, as Mark Subers pointed out. Printers should investigate the enormous benefits of the various AI platforms right now. Currently, about 70% of a printer’s files can be handled by AI. Despite this, a huge 80% of North American printers haven’t even begun to use the technology.. Bottom line: AI is here to stay, so printers should get on board as soon as possible.”
The Significans Automation kiosk (Booth: 4255) is a must visit for any printing or packaging print business to take its business to an unprecedented level of efficiency and profitability. The Significans team is eager to discuss the potentials for your business. We will also be joining Enfocus (Booth: 2004) as a Platinum partner, certified App Creator, and Tier 1 global integrator for their portfolio of award winning software.
