Significans Automation has released a powerful new utility for Enfocus Switch users -introducing Global Counter.
Designed for production environments where accuracy matters, Global Counter provides a centralized, persistent way to manage numeric values across workflows, flows, and even multiple Switch servers. Whether you need daily production totals, unique invoice numbers, batch quotas, or synchronized IDs across separate flows, Global Counter delivers safe, collision-free counting you can rely on.
Unlike standard job-based variables, Global Counter stores and manages values externally through a centralized JSON database with advanced file-locking mechanisms. This ensures that even when multiple flows – or multiple Switch servers sharing a network drive – attempt to update the same counter at the same time, your data remains accurate and protected.
Smarter, safer counting for complex workflows
Global Counter allows you to configure up to five distinct counters within a single flow element, enabling complex logic in one step. Retrieve values, update them, or perform both actions simultaneously, all within the Switch properties panel.
The app goes far beyond simple +1 counting. You can increment, decrement, multiply, divide, apply powers or roots, or force fixed values. Built-in bounds and limit controls allow you to clamp values, roll them over within a range, or intentionally fail a job when a defined threshold is reached.
Automated reset schedules give you even more control. Counters can reset daily at midnight, weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly, at fixed timestamps, or at custom time intervals such as every 30 minutes. Formatting tools allow you to automatically pad values and apply prefixes or suffixes, making it easy to generate outputs such as 2026-02-0012 directly into Private Data.
Built for real production environments
Global Counter is engineered with reliability in mind. Atomic write operations prevent partial data corruption. Automatic corruption detection and backup recovery keep production moving. Configurable retry policies support high-latency network storage, making the app suitable for multi-server environments.
Explicit Success and Error connections provide clean error handling, allowing you to build robust logic around quota limits, batch caps, or operational safeguards.
